Each year, Aquarius proudly participates in the Project Aware International clean-up day, this year as always we showed our support by inviting all our guests to work alongside us and help the environment. International Earth Day was held on April 22^nd  2010 and as usual we were overwhelmed by the number of guests who rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into making the world a cleaner place, all Aquarius guests were given a 3^rd dive free of charge and then set about cleaning both underwater and shore based areas.

The day was a resounding success and we would like to Thank all our guests for the effort they made and the rubbish they collected.

Hopefully one day soon, we’ll all be more aware about the environment and our impact on it but until then please show your awareness by volunteering at any clean up event and show the world you care. 

Hesham Kamel has been working in the diving sector for over 30 years as an instructor in several organisation (Padi, Cmas, SSI, Vdst, DTI, Idea). This  commando  officer in Egyptian special force for 15 years was also vice president of CDWS (Chamber Diving and Water Sport) and chairman of CDWS red sea governorate.He is a south Red Sea representative of Red Sea association for divng and water sport. He was responsible for all search and rescue un south Red Sea.

He joined the Aquarius team starting from the 1st of March 2010 as the South of the Red Sea Regional Manager. He will be in charge of the operation in Port Ghalib aqua center, Awlad Baraka lodge and Hamata diving center

 On Saturday 19th December Aquarius lost one of its most valued employees, Mr Mahmoud Sadawy who was known to all as 'Mosquito'.

We lost Mosquito in a terrible car accident in his home town of Mansoura. We ask that you pray for Mosquito and for his family to give them the strength to deal with this tragedy.

Mosquito was much loved and a hard working colleague who touched so many people with kindness. Mosquito had the ability to make you smile in any situation and was always there to help and he often went out his way to make a difference in our lives. We will always remember you our loving Mosquito and will never forget the way you touched all our hearts.

We know that you’re in heaven and looking down on all of us, on all the hearts you've touched. We miss you so much and are honoured to have been part of your life, to have been considered your friends and to have known such a beautiful soul. God bless you and your family, we will always remember you.

In order to provide the best range of equipment for all our guests, Aquarius has recently signed a deal with Aqualung to become registered as an official Aqualung diving centre, This means that all our diving equipment will be from Aqualung’s latest innovative range and will be available for our guests to rent or purchase. We are currently in the process of changing all our equipment in all 9 Aquarius Diving Clubs over to Aqualung, this means that you can be confident that our equipment is top quality and in great condition. At Aquarius Makadi we have already replaced each item of equipment with the latest Aqualung equivalent making it the first fully equipped Aqualung centre in the Aquarius chain.

Aquarius Diving Club participated in the annual Project aware International Clean-up day, all the Aquarius clubs joined in and cleaned both underwater and Shore based locations.

We are very happy that our guests also understood the importance of the clean-up campaign and we had over 40 volunteers that helped and made a difference.

We had teams cleaning at Ras Umm Hesiwa in Makadi where they found an amazing 6 bags of trash mostly made up from plastic bottles .
Also at Palm beach on the unused land next to the hotel where we found enough plastic bags to keep Metro in business for 10 years ☺.
We also went to Giftun island and only found 15kgs of total rubbish which we were really surprised at, especially when you consider the amount of people that visit the national park on a daily basis, the most common items that were found were ‘Fishing Lines’ & more commonly known as the national flower of Egypt ‘ The elusive Plastic bag’.

We are already thinking forward to 2010 and hope to plan a clean-up event with up to 100 volunteers…..watch this space !!

Aquarius Diving Club is the first club in Hurghada to offer freediving or breath-hold diving. Freedivers enjoy diving in water without being disturbed by breathing apparatus such as scuba equipment. On a single breath of air you can explore the underwater environment for minutes at a time with relative comfort.

Freediving is ideal for snorkelers who want to spend longer time under water to make pictures or simply to mingle as one with the fish. Freediving is also very interesting for divers who want to make longer dives by lowering their air consumption. We are proud to announce that Aquarius Diving Club has become one of the first diving centres in the Red Sea to be certified for meeting the international standards (EN 14467/ISO 24803) for recreational diving.

In order to receive this certification all areas related to recreational diving and snorkelling were inspected. Maintenance of equipment and compressors, qualifications of staff, and provision of services according to agreed safety standards. It means our guests can be assured they receive the highest quality in teaching standards and can safely enjoy the diving and snorkeling services we provide.
